Susan Dianne Yearwood Chappell passed away peacefully Sunday morning October 1, 2017 at age 69, born October 17, 1947. She was a lifelong resident of Atlanta, GA. Preceded in death by her parents John T. (Jack) Yearwood and Sarah Yearwood Gray, and sister Louise Yearwood. Survived by her loving husband of over 36 years, Johnnie Ray Chappell, the sons she was so proud of Johnny Lee Chappell and Adam Ray Chappell, sisters Carol Yearwood Alves, Terri Yearwood and husband William Becker of MN, brother Stephen Yearwood, brother-in-law Charles Storrs and niece Jesse Storrs of FL, and many members of the Yearwood, Cotton and Chappell families.
She graduated from Sylvan Hills High School, retired from Kroger and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she looked forward to going Sunday mornings. Some of her interests were crossword puzzles, country and gospel music, movies, game shows and Braves baseball. Her love of animals made sure there were always pet dogs and cats. She loved her long time neighbors who shared watch over duties when each were away. Traveling with her family to the mountains, lakes, parks, beaches, and annual summer and holiday family gatherings were her favorite times. She was an avid Elvis fan and a favorite trip was visiting Graceland and his birthplace in Tupelo. Her love of family was her passion and she will be sorely missed by all.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, The American Heart Association or a preferred charity. Funeral arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill. Visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm Wednesday October 4th at Grace United Methodist Church, 458 Ponce de Leon Ave, Atlanta, GA.
